Your Needs As A Parent To Put Your Pooch In Doggie Daycare

Is your pooch having accidents in the house, chewing up furniture, or maybe just needs some extra playtime then maybe doggie daycare is just what you need. But what does your pup need to be ready for doggie daycare?

First question you need answered, is Fido current on all vaccinations including Rabies, Distemper and Kennel Cough? Top of the line daycares will need proof that your animal is current on all health vaccines. If the daycare center does not require them then you do not want to use them anyways. The vaccines are for the health and safety of your animal as well as every animal in the center.

Next question to consider is if your best friend is fixed? Again most top of the line centers will turn away any animal who hasn't been snipped. If your animal is not fixed you might want to consult your veterinarian about the benefits of having your dog spayed or neutered. Fixing your pet makes for a longer healthier life and you will avoid unwanted puppies. Animals that are not fixed can be more aggressive to other animals and people.

You will need to be very honest about the social abilities of your best friend. If he or she is afraid of thunderstorms or even just doesn't play well with large breed dogs you will need to advise the daycare center. It does them no good if you are not honest about your pup. This will help Fifi be more at home in her daycare. Also, if he or she has been abused and reacts to such things as raised voices or hands let your daycare center know.
